TOPIC 3: SIGNIFICANCE OF MUSLIM TRAVELLERS IN INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC TOURISM

SIGNIFICANCE OF MUSLIM TRAVELLERS IN INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC TOURISM

1.        Increasing currency
Fenomena ringgit's depreciation beginning early 2017 has rebounded as the country's currency stabilized past the RM4 psychological level against the US dollar in early January. The ringgit in February rallied around RM3.88 to RM3.93, thereby giving a positive picture for Malaysia and denying allegations from various quarters that the state of the economy is in a state of danger. In general, there are various things that affect the value of the ringgit, one of which is tourism   especially in the exchange of currency. If more foreign tourists come to our country, foreign currency exchanges will actively work. When it is in operation, the value of the currency will increase in the world and it will increase the country's economy.

2.        Promote job opportunities
Ministry of  Tourism and Culture aims to double the number of tourists in 2018 compared to 17.34 million tourists in the first eight months of this year. Its secretary-general Rashidi Hasbullah said they targeted 33.1 million tourists with a total of RM118 billion from tourist receipts next year.
As the number of tourists traveling is increasing, this has indirectly provided a great deal of employment opportunities to the locals. For example, when Muslim tourists are traveling,more hotels will be built and job demand will increase.This has impacted the local population in offering them various job opportunities and thus reducing the unemployment rate in a country.
3.        Build good relationship between Muslim and non-Muslim
Because of the attitudes of Malaysian people and Islamic aggression built among Muslims in Malaysia, foreign tourists have been attracted to Muslim people in Malaysia. For example,Mat Dan an overseas person who has come to Malaysia and has been attracted to the life of the Muslim ummah in Malaysia until he has embraced Islam and was married with Muslim person.

4.        Provide space for specific tourist
There is the argument of the prophet Muhammad who has forbidden women to walk with men in a way that can cause intercourse (ikhtilat). There is a narrative of the Prophet who explained that he had seen the mix between men and women on the street and then asked the women to walk by the roads to avoid the occurrence of their tithing. These arguments clearly show that the prohibition of ikhtilat between men and women is more subtle, which may lead to slander.The above things have clearly shown that Islam forbids his people to mix between men and women who are not mahram. Because of this, many countries have created special carriages for women only.This has provided comfort and ensure safety to Muslim tourists especially women.

5.        Halal food industry
·         Islamic tourism, of which Halal food is a critical component, is a striking phenomenon yielding valuable opportunities for the tourism industry worldwide. To realise these opportunities, tourism businesses must understand the requirements of Muslim tourists and take the necessary measures to satisfy them without inconveniencing non-Muslim customers.

·         One of the example restaurant that provide Halal food is Halal Japanese Style BBQ Restaurant Naritaya. From the view point of inbound services, they focus on Halal.
Because, the number of Muslims in the world has increased every year.
They have been to Malaysia to learn genuine Halal. In 2014, they opened their first shop of Japan in Tokyo. They continuously opened in Kyoto (2014) and Miyagi (2015).They hope to provide a Japanese style BBQ as "100% HALAL". It’s a concept of NARITAYA. They offered the supervision to KYOTO UMESHIN and get started project of 100% HALAL BBQ NARITAYA. KYOTO UMESHIN is very popular Japanese style BBQ restaurant to foreign customers in Kyoto. They believe that the most important thing is considering customers satisfaction and it’s a great strength of Japanese culture.

6.        Halal Certification Agencies
Malaysia is a reference to foreign countries in terms of halal standards and certification because the systems used here conform to international standards in the context of shariah, purity and security. This is enough to prove Malaysia's halal industry and Malaysia's halal compliance is recognized globally. The two-day convention is an annual program organized by JAKIM to bring halal certification bodies from across the country, which can be said to be the largest program with annual new members who have been certified with halal certification recognized by JAKIM. Six certification bodies and halal logos from Japan are among the 66 certifying bodies and overseas halal logos recognized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) worldwide. Until now, among the recognized certification bodies and halal logos in Japan are Japan Muslim Association, Japan Halal Association (JHA), Japan Halal Unit Association (JHUA), Japan Islamic Trust (JIT), Muslim Professional Japan Association (MPJA) and Nippon Asia Halal Association (NAHA).

7.        Infrastructure improvements
·         Many destinations across the world have identified this potential and are adapting their offerings to better appeal to the Muslim travel market. One such example is Japan. In a bid to diversify its tourism industry, the Japanese Government is implementing plans to increase the availability  prayer facilities and other Muslim-friendly facilities . As a result, Muslim visitor arrivals are forecasted to hit 1 million by 2020 with a growth rate of over 18% over the next few years.
·         Other examples such as the mosque moves in Japan. The mosque can accommodate 50 pilgrims at a time.This mosque managed by Yasu Project Co.Ltd operates from a truck. Have a place to take ablution and a very comfortable prayer room. Yasu Project Executive Officer Junya Imamura was very serious in making this mosque so much that he was willing to search at the Fukuoka mosque about 2 years ago. He did this because he believed that more Muslim tourists came to Japan and some of them will stay there.

8.        The existence of various online searches
A new website for Muslim travellers, which includes a global directory of halal restaurants and dedicated city guides, was launched recently in a bid to capitalise on the growing number of Muslim tourists.The apps likes HalalTrip.com, offers a wide range of features for tourists wishing to travel in accordance with the rules of Islam.It also offers a global directory of halal restaurants, mosques and amenities useful for the Muslim tourist. There are dedicated travel and city guides to places such as Istanbul, Beijing, and Kuala Lumpur, highlighting places of interest for the Islamic visitors. Crescentrating which is one of the company that already runs a website which rates hotels, restaurants, airports and other establishments using such criteria as having halal restaurants and prayer rooms.

TOPIC 2 discuss opportunities for tourism in a green economy

a. Sizing and growth of the sector

  1. The tourism economy represents 5% of world GDP, while it contributes to about 8% of total employment, see table 8.
  2. International tourism ranks fourth (after fuels, chemicals and automotive products) in global exports, with an industry value of US$ 1 trillion a year, accounting for 30% of the world’s exports of commercial services or 7.9% of total exports (UNWTO 2010a; World Bank 2010).
  3. Domestic tourism represents on average 62% of total tourism consumption worldwide (UNWTO 2010c). With growing developing country participation, tourism has become a major contributor to their growth. In over 150 countries, tourism is one of five top export earners, and in 60 it is the number one export. It is the main source of foreign exchange for one third of developing countries and one half of LDCs (UNCTAD 2010).

Image result for opportunities for tourism in a green economy Sizing and growth of the sector

International tourism has recovered faster than expected from the impacts of the global financial crisis and economic recession of late 2008 and 2009. International tourist arrivals were up by 6.7% in 2010 compared to 2009, with positive growth reported in all world regions. While all regions posted growth in international tourist arrivals, emerging economies remain the main drivers of this recovery. This multi-speed recovery, lower in advanced economies (+5%), faster in emerging ones (+8%), is a reflection of the broader global economic situation and is set to dominate 2011 and the foreseeable future (UNWTO 2011a).

b. Changing consumer patterns

Image result for opportunities for tourism in a green economy Changing consumer patterns

Tourist choices are increasingly influenced by sustainability considerations. For instance, in 2007 TripAdvisor surveyed travellers worldwide and 38% said that environmentally friendly tourism is a consideration when travelling, 38% had stayed at an environmentally-friendly hotel and 9% specifically seek out such hotels, while 34% are willing to pay more to stay in environmentally friendly hotels (Pollock 2007). CEDS and TIES (2005) found that a majority of international tourists are interested in the social, cultural and environmental issues relevant to the destinations they visit and are interested in patronizing hotels that are committed to protecting the local environment, and increasingly view local environmental and social stewardship as a responsibility of the businesses they support.

c. Maximising potential for addressing local development and poverty reduction.

TOPIC 1: Demonstrate understanding towards tourism in a green economy

Tourism in the green economy refers to tourism activities that can be maintained, or sustained, indefinitely in their social, economic, cultural, and environmental contexts which is sustainable tourism. Developing tourism sustainably is a big challenge for planners and policy makers. The task becomes all the more difficult in view of the multiple crises being faced by the world currently: recession, climate change, fuel, food and water crisis.

Specific challenges that need to be resolved through the greening of the industry include, (1) energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions;
The growth of energy consumption in travel, transport, accommodation and tourism related activities and the dependency on fossil fuels, increase vulnerability and uncertainty for future business growth and translate into important implications for GHG emissions and climate change.

(2) water consumption;
In tourism and recreation, water used linked to accommodation mostly spent on guest consumption, landscape and property management and laundry activities, and to food service. While water use by tourism, on a global basis, is far less important than agriculture, industry, or urban domestic use, in some countries, as well as regionally, tourism can be the main factor in water consumption.

(3) waste management;
Waste management is another increasing and well recognized challenge in the industry. Every international tourist generates at least 1kg of solid waste per day, and up to 2 kg/person/day. Based on various sources, million international tourists are likely to have generated no less than 4.8 million of solid waste.

(4) loss of biological diversity;
There are many examples where large-scale tourism has had detrimental effects on biodiversity, including coral reefs, coastal wetlands, rainforests, arid and semi-arid ecosystems, mountainous areas.

(5) effective management of cultural heritage;
Management of cultural heritage also includes built heritage which provides sense of place and cultural reference points. Most built heritage attractions were not originally intended for tourist use must be managed to protect them from over-use, misuse and wear and tear from visitor footfall. More broadly, heritage buildings can be at risk from climate change.

Challenges and Opportunities for Tourism in a Green Economy

For this topic i need to explain their challenges witch is water consumption.Most of water were used on accommodation and food service. For accommodation mostly spend on guest consumption, landscape and property management and laundry activities. Global direct water consumption in international tourism ( accommodation only ) is estimated to be only 1.3 km3 per year. Main water-consuming factors are golf courses, irrigated gardens, swimming pools, spas, wellness facilities and guest rooms. Local communities use freshwater for 8 purposes : hygenies purposes, cooking, dishwashing, drinking, washing clothes, cleaning, and feeding animals. -Sarah-

random topic (23 August 2018)

  Selamat Sejahtera,

Related image

Today our class fundamental are cancel because we celebrate Hari Raya AidilAdha, one of the celebration for Muslim people. This Hari Raya are to remembering,It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. But, before Ibraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts: one third of the share is given to the poor and needy; another third is given to relatives.
 During Eid al-Adha, distributing meat amongst the people, chanting the takbir out loud before the Eid prayers on the first day and after prayers throughout the three days of Eid, are considered essential parts of this important Islamic festival.
 Men, women, and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid prayer in a large congregation in an open waqf("stopping") field called Eidgah or mosque. Affluent Muslims who can afford it sacrifice their best halal domestic animals (usually a cow, but can also be a camel, goat, sheep, or ram depending on the region) as a symbol of Ibraham's willingness to sacrifice his only son.

RAYA AIDILADHA!!!

Aidiladha is also commonly known as Hari Raya Korban or Hari Raya Haji in Malaysia.
Celebrated about two months after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, on the 10th day of Zulhijjah, the 12th (last) month of the Muslim calendar, it marks the end of the haj pilgrimage period (about two weeks).
Every year, millions of Muslims make the journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform the haj, one of the five basic tenets of Islam. Aidiladha also commemorates the sacrifices made by the Prophet Ibrahim (hence the word 'korban,' which means sacrifice in Arabic), who demonstrated immense faith when he was put to the test by god.
During Aidiladha, the sacrifice of four-legged animals such as lambs, goats, cows, bulls and camels is performed.The slaughter of the animal is done after the congregational prayer in the morning of Aidiladha. The animals are killed in accordance with the proper religious rites and the meat is then distributed.Making the sacrifice (korban) is not a compulsory religious duty, but an obligations for those who are able to afford it.-Sarah-

ITS HARI RAYA HAJIIII

Yesterday was Eid al-Adha Day where it is an Islamic Festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim or known as Abraham to follow Allah's command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event. We celebrate this event every year.

Chapter 1 !

 Hey there,

Here I would like to make a little bit conclusion based on the chapter 1.

  Based on the first week we learned about the introduction of tourism, hospitality, and the relationship between this two sectors. These two sectors need each other because they need to work together to help sustain each other.

  The characteristics of Tourism and Hospitality Industry :
1) Perishable - cannot be saved, stored, resold or returned
2) Intangibilty - a state of being abstract, as are thing that cannot be touched.
3) Inseparability - service cannot be separated from their providers.
4) Changeability / Variability - quality of services depends on who provides them, when and where.

  The history and development of tourism and hospitality industry. 700 hundred years ago, travelling seemed to be a synonym for being formented.

 Tourism in the 5th Century, tourism really began as an out growth of travel during the Greek & Roman Empires. Goverment officialls also travelled on state business. The fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th Century resulted in political instability.

  Modern tourism, The Wright brother's experiment with the first airplane, awinged bicycle at Kitty Hawk, north Carolina, launched today's modern air travel system.
