ACCOMMODATIONS

Yesterday, my class started with doing online activity at padlet application. In there, all my classmates posted about the meaning of accommodation, function of accommodation and types of accommodations. We also posted the picture of caravan because most of us do not know what is caravan and type of hotels like business hotel, resort hotel, airport hotel, budget hotel and many more. All of this was related to our chapter that we learned.

After lunch, our class located at TECC as usual. At there we played game named "Quizizz". This game is similar to Kahoot game and the question is all about Tourism and Hospitality. Then, we watched video about introduction to hospitality on youtube. After that, we wrote a forum at cidos to explain our understanding on video that we has watched.

History & Development of Tourism & Hospitality Industry

Last Thursday on 19 July 2018, we started our class by learning History and Development of Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Travel comes from French word which is travail its means 'work'. Apparently, 700 years ago, travelling seems to be a synonym for being tormented. Well thats a bit explanation on the topic. Its kind of boring class. When it comes to the history everything will be so boring but we need to learn history to gain more knowledge on the subject and the course that we took. After lunch, we continued our class with some activities,which is we need to explained what we has wrote on the blog. After the explanation, we played cram game. Next, we played Kahoot! game. In Kahoot game and cram game, there are some questions that related to the topic that we have learned on that day.-By Sarah-

HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

Last class, we learned about History and Development of Tourism and Hospitality. History of Tourism Industry international apparently, 700 hundred years ago, travelling seemed to be a synonym for being tormented. History of Hospitality in early, Tavern were perhaps the first establishments to offer hospitality. The first fixed-price menus of food appeared in a type of tavern called ordinary. By the end of the 13th century, the horse-dawn coach, carrying travellers of the main roads, led to the development of wayside inns known as post house.

Before in dependence in Malaysia, the economy of Malaysia relied heavily on tin, palm oil and rubber exports. After independence, a new series of difficult decisions lay ahead of Malaya, the first of which was to determine exactly what territories would be included in the new state.

After that in TECC, we shared about what we wrote in our blog in class by group. This blog were created to shared what we learned in class Fundamentals of Tourism and Hospitality.

2nd week (12 July 2018)

  For the next 2nd week we learn about, Profile of Tourism & Hospitality Industry. In this chapter we discuss about which people are tourists? Tourists are temporary visitors staying at least 24 hours in the country. People do travel because of various reasons for the business, visiting family, pleasure and tourist may be combining two or more things like visiting friends and attending an exhibition they are interested in. Then we learn about the traveler which means any person that are going on a trip  between two or more localities. Then miss Ean Na also explained about the visitor, excursionist, backpacker, tourist guide, travel agent, outbound tourism, inbound tourism, domestic tourist, international tourist, recreation, leisure time, guest, lodging, food & beverage, housekeeping and culinary, then we also learn about the differences between trip and visit. Trip is a journey that more than 24 hours and being at least 40 kilometres in distance but visit is defined as being made to each place where one or more nights is spent while on the trip.

1st week (5 July 2018)

 We learn about the chapter 1. First what is a tourism ? Tourism is the temporary, short term travel of nonresidents along transit routes to and from a destination. Second, what is the tourism industry ? The business that provide goods and services to tourists, visitors and all types of travellers while they are travelling. Then, we learn about the hospitality which means as welcoming of guest to any type of facility that offers food and shelter. What I learn in this chapter are the relationship between tourism and travel operations the two are instrinsically linked and need to work together to help sustain each other. The last one is they have four characteristics of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, perishable, intangibility, inseparability and changeability. will be continued later, THANK YOU .

I LOVE TO TRAVEL!

Last Thursday, in our class we played game names Kahoot!. It is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational institutions. The questions in this game is all about travelling. We had fun while learning when playing Kahoots.

Then, we continued our lesson about Terminologies and Concept in Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Our lecturer, Miss Anna, explained which people is tourists? Tourists are temporary visitor staying at least 24 hours in the country visited for leisure, business, family visits or meeting. In this lesson, we learned about why do people travel, the definition of traveller, visitor, excursionist, backpacker, tourist guide, tourist agent, outbound tourist, inbound tourist, domestic tourist, international tourist and the different between trip and visit. We also learned the meaning of recreation, leisure time, guest, lodging, food & beverages, housekeeping and culinary.

FIRST CLASS OF FUNDAMENTAL OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

Last week of Thursday, we have entered the first class of Fundamental of Tourism and Hospitality in Semester 1 at Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Johor. Our lecturer name is Ung Ean Na and we call her Miss Anna. We start our lesson about introduction to tourism and hospitality. Miss Anna explained to us what is the meaning of tourism and hospitaly. Tourism comprises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year of leisure, business and others purposes. Hospitality can be defined at the provision of a range of services and facilities that meet the needs of people while away from home, such as accommodation, food, beverages and entertainment. After that, we also learned about the Relationship Between Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Relationship Between Tourism and Travel Operations, Relationship Between Leisure, Recreation and Tourism. Furthermore,Tourism and Hospitality Industry have four types of characteristics, it is Perishable, Intangibility, Inseparability and Changeability/Variability.

After lunch, we continued our lesson at TECC which is a short form for Technology Enable Collaborative Classroom. This room has been designed and developed in the hope that it will have the impact of teaching and learning on either lecturer or student. The room has nice feel to it where we get to relax while learning. There also have provided television, projector, several computers and fulls of discussion table and chairs which is very helpful and easy for us to do group discussion.

First Day in Fundamental of Tourism and Hospitality Class

Last week, in Fundamental of Tourism and Hospitality class, Miss An Na explained to our class about fundamental of tourism and hospitality. What is tourism definition? Tourism comparises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year of leisure, business and other purposes. We also learned about Relationship Between Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Relationship Between Tourism and Travel Operations, Relationship Between Leisure, Recreation and Tourism and there are 4 types of characteristic of Tourism and Hospitality Industry ; Perishable, Intangibility, Inseparability and Changeability / Variability. Then we go to TECC. TECC is a smart room . In the room got television, computers and have a relax section and so many more. -admin Sarah-
