FIRST CLASS OF FUNDAMENTAL OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

Last week of Thursday, we have entered the first class of Fundamental of Tourism and Hospitality in Semester 1 at Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Johor. Our lecturer name is Ung Ean Na and we call her Miss Anna. We start our lesson about introduction to tourism and hospitality. Miss Anna explained to us what is the meaning of tourism and hospitaly. Tourism comprises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year of leisure, business and others purposes. Hospitality can be defined at the provision of a range of services and facilities that meet the needs of people while away from home, such as accommodation, food, beverages and entertainment. After that, we also learned about the Relationship Between Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Relationship Between Tourism and Travel Operations, Relationship Between Leisure, Recreation and Tourism. Furthermore,Tourism and Hospitality Industry have four types of characteristics, it is Perishable, Intangibility, Inseparability and Changeability/Variability.

After lunch, we continued our lesson at TECC which is a short form for Technology Enable Collaborative Classroom. This room has been designed and developed in the hope that it will have the impact of teaching and learning on either lecturer or student. The room has nice feel to it where we get to relax while learning. There also have provided television, projector, several computers and fulls of discussion table and chairs which is very helpful and easy for us to do group discussion.
